WIDE AcrossEU

Widen performance in research and innovation capacity and competence Across EU

About the project

Three ambitious universities in Czechia, North Macedonia, and Ukraine, who are current beneficiaries of regional funding programmes (ERDF, IPA, Interreg and similar investments for R&I infrastructure), are ready to transform their research and innovation potential with the help of WIDE AcrossEU. This project, launching in May 2024 with a budget of €1.2 million, aims to elevate our institutions in the competitive world of EU funding programs. Led by the University of Pardubice in the Czech Republic and supported by experienced partners from Finland and Sweden, WIDE AcrossEU is set to make a significant impact.

Charting the Course

Our first task is to understand the unique needs and aspirations of our partner universities. By identifying their challenges and strengths, we set the stage for targeted skill-building. Through workshops, training sessions, and seminars, we equip R&I staff with the tools they need to succeed.

But skills alone aren't enough. We also open doors to new networks and partnerships, paving the way for successful EU funding proposals. The goal is clear: transform us into key players on the EU funding stage.

Maximising Resources

To truly progress, we need to make the most of existing R&I infrastructure funded by ERDF and similar investments. These resources are essential for our advancement. Strategic plans for R&I and human resources are crafted, ensuring our journey is not just swift but also sustainable.

The Path Ahead

Over the next 40 months, from May 2024 to August 2027, we expect to see our partners' transformation. By the project’s end, we envision universities that not only compete but excel in direct EU funding programs. This transformation will be evident in three key areas:

Synergy and Collaboration Enhanced collaboration between Horizon Europe, and ERDF, IPA, RRF, INTERREG, and overall European R&I networks through internationalisation, valorisation and technology uptake.
Competitiveness A significant boost in success rates for international research funding, driven by accelerated knowledge transfer and innovation.
Strategic Networks Establishment of robust R&I networks, aligned with smart specialisation strategies.

Long-Term Impact

Our efforts aim for long-term benefits. By modernising R&I systems and retaining top research talent, we'll witness structural improvements that resonate beyond the project’s lifespan. Mobilising national and EU resources for strategic investments will create waves of progress, while our enhanced international outreach will shine a spotlight on the participating institutions.

WIDE AcrossEU isn't just a project; it's a journey towards a brighter, more innovative future for universities in Czechia, North Macedonia, and Ukraine. Together, we're not just advancing research and innovation; we're charting a course towards excellence.
